Exploring a Social Justice Moonshot With Opportunity Atlas

OVERVIEW

As part of our collaboration with X, The Moonshot Factory—Google’s innovation lab—we designed concept assets to support an early-stage exploration of a “social justice moonshot.” The project asked: what would it look like to design a breakthrough technology that mitigates bias at scale rather than amplifying it?

Our team developed a suite of materials to bring this vision to life. These assets were intended both as a marketing foundation and as preludes to a future explainer video for Opportunity Atlas, an AI-powered model designed to expand access to opportunity equitably.

THE CHALLENGE

Bias is a deeply entrenched part of human decision-making, and when embedded into technology, it often perpetuates systemic inequities across hiring, lending, healthcare, and education.

THE SOLUTION

Opportunity Atlas

Over the course of an intensive design sprint, our team mapped the systemic impacts of bias and identified high-leverage points where technology could expand access to opportunity.

Opportunity Atlas, is a foundational model that can guide other AI systems to make equitable, bias-aware decisions. The model could be applied across industries—from hiring platforms and social services to education, lending, and healthcare.
